Here is the finished painting. This is the first painting I have ever completed and boy did I learn a lot. It's amazing what you can teach yourself if you just try. I was afraid to use paint for the longest time. Lets face it, it can come off a bit scary to someone who has only ever used graphite. You have to try it though. I started out not knowing what I was doing. I snapped my first one over my knee in anger. Although I kept at and began to learn from my mistakes. I finished with that beautiful (yes I said it! Im proud of it!!!) wing in front on the big mallard. And I knew exactly what I was doing by that point and now I know I will go into my next painting with the confidence that it will turn out great! I'm starting my entry today now for the Federal Duck Stamp Competition and I am really excited! Thanks for all of your support!!!
And if you havent ever tried painting, then you need to give it a go and I promise you'll have fun. And as always, just ask if you would like my advice or help at any point in your artistic endeavors..
I started out the same way ... Hard core graphite artist.
Did my first lil painting in 99 .. it was in acrylic hobbiest paints normally used for miniature figurines for table top battles. I played around and did a few acrylic paintings before giving oils and watercolors a try. Love both
and again ... I learned by making mistakes .. lots of mistakes.
You've done great.
I'm working on my latest duckstamp one as well.
Good luck Bud.

I've been doing a lot of abstract painting lately. Extremely abstract. No brush, no paint, no canvas. I just think about it.
It's gorgeous! congratulations!! I'm scared to try painting...I did some painting when I was a kid, and it was really hard, but maybe I'll try watercolors someday...anyway, reading your description makes me want to try!
You've done an outstanding work, really. Everything in the picture is just perfect...I really enjoy it. And I love the coloring.
I haven't seriously tried paint yet...still scared! I know I can never make something like this! Maybe eventually, but not on the first completed one like you!
I suppose it's just basically because I'm not exactly sure how to-my brushes never cooperate! It's just gonna have to be trial and error!
Best of luck to you, and again-beautiful job!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
