Spruce grouse
Acrylic painting - 13x18"

This was my entry for the 2011 Oregon upland stamp contest. I have made it into the final round of judging, but haven't heard the results yet. Contest is still later today I guess. :)

I painted the subspecies found in Canada which is not the same one found in Oregon which I didn't know. So apparently I painted the wrong species of spruce grouse. The tips of the tail are suppost to be white, not brown. Stupid I know, but it might hurt my chance of winning.

Anyways, either way I am proud of it and I think I am starting to show more improvement in my painting so that's all that counts. Thanks a lot for looking and comments welcome!

Charles

Wow! I remember seeing this painting on their website, thinking ”What an incredible piece, how could this not win?”
It’s even more stunning now that I can see all the detail you put into it.
You should be really proud. :)

By the way, all of your artwork really inspires me. I hope I can create something like this someday.
