Here is my probably one of my last commissioned dog portraits or commissioned anything for that matter. This measures 11x14" and is of a lab that loves the water as I'm told (like all labs :) ). I like how it turned out, however shrinking down the dog so it fits into the drawing entirely is not my style. Just having to work at it on a smaller scale is different for me.

I think commissioned drawings are really lacking the enthusiasm lately for me, and I think it shows in my quality of work. I'm just ready to start creating for myself basically. I have sold a few of my prized originals in recent times and just realized I need to go back and create like I did before I drew for others. and I need color in my life!! so I'm painting away right now! :) Thanks for looking!

Except mine was a chocolate, this reminds me of my lab. However, he had one strange quirk for a lab. If his wading pool was not clean enough for him to See the Bottom, he would not use it. I had to dump it regularly so he could See the Bottom or else he'd whine at me and just stare at the pool. Most of the black labs I grew up with could have cared less about the cleanliness of the water, even seeming to prefer the yuckier the better.

Wow, this is gorgeous!

I love the water, the riples are so realistic - and I know how insanely difficult it is to draw realistic water.
The dog's shading and anatomy (for the most part) are immaculate, and I love how you made his dark coat contrast against the water.

The only thing that looks a little bit awkward is the back leg from the knee down - It looks a tidbit skinny. Other than that, awesome drawing! :)
