another dog commission; 8x10" this one was particularly hard for me. probably not the best representation of my abilities.... the reference photo's were not that great and the 2 i had were completely different. in one, the dog has really long hair and the other it had like a buzz cut. this was one of them - [link]
anyway do you have any comments or critique for me? i haven't showed the client yet and didn't spray it yet so im looking for any suggestions are whatever. thanks!

Well... if I was to change anything, I'd soften its "beard" a bit. The hairs seem a bit too crisp on its right cheek (the one to your left), but that might just be me.

If you'd also darken the background a bit, the dog will probably automaticly look a bit better.

Other than that, I think that the commissioner will love it. It's still an adorable picture:)

Without Tetris, there would be nothing.
I think maybe some more definition on the hair around the nose. The hair looks slightly flat coming away from the nose and onto the cheek (don't know the technical dog term for a cheek). I feel like there should be some more shadows here to suggest the shape a bit better. The photo link you have shows darker areas around this part which is close to the way I mean ... it just needs to look like there is a bit more shape to this part of his face. I can understand how difficult it is to get a good likeness with such photos but I think you've done an excellent job. I think the features look great ... just needs a bit more definition in the hair in my opinion. :D

Money takes you around the world, your imagination takes you further!
i agree with verdokai 1st point, the hairs seems a bit hard, and thick. i think you should try to make it more a whole, instead of creating the hairs one by one. perhaps that might help:)

the drawing as it is now is good enough though.. just a few details :)

I really cant give you any criticism because drawing is not my area. However, I ve said it before i will say it again, you are SO talented. The detail to this picture is just amazing. How long does it take to create a drawing like this?
Aside from the nose and eyes, most of the drawing is in the middle value range, and it all kind of blurs together. Darkening the background would help the dog pop a lot more. :)

the hair right above your sig seems a bit 2 long...but it very well could be me...

still great

speaking as an owner of a Westie: the hairs on my dog are not anywhere near that straight and separated. Chloe has a lot of curls.

then again, she also hasn't had a decent haircut in quite a while.

i can't criticize, because your skills are millenia away from anything to which i could aspire.

i agree with a darker background making the white of the dog stand out more, though...
This is one of the most - if not the most beautiful drawing I have ever seen...... how you captured the energy and life in the eyes is what got me and sucked me in immediately..... I do not know anything about drawings but I do know what I like and I love this!
oh..so cute!!
